John serves as a consultant to Lumen Legal, having retired on 31 January 2022 after 55 years of practice in the areas of corporate and commercial law and the resolution of commercial disputes. In later years he served as curator of two large financial institutions, having been appointed by the High Court on the application of the Financial Services Board. A keen yachtsman with vast ocean sailing experience, John has also been heavily involved in the administration of his sport, having served as Commodore of Royal Cape Yacht Club and President of SA Sailing. Presently he serves as President of RCYC.
